Co-stars Colt Prattes and Abigail Breslin talk to me about the pressures of playing Johnny and Baby! Don't worry guys, you did GREAT!
This assignment was a BLAST! Believe me, at first I wondered WHY ANYONE would attempt to RE-MAKE Dirty Dancing...But you know what...I think it's pretty cool they did. There are so many young people who have never seen the original (kind of impossible to believe, right?!). The new movie gives a whole new generation the chance to discover the story of Johnny and Baby - with actors they know and already love!
I filmed with the crew on location in North Carolina and had the pleasure of meeting some of my favorite stars!
Debra Messing -- She plays Baby's mom, Mrs. Houseman. I actually THANKED her for MAKING ME LAUGH on Will & Grace! So excited that show is coming back!! She is gracious, talented and yes...FUNNY!!!
Such an honor to meet the legendary, Katey Sagal! She plays Vivian the VIXEN!
Modern Family's Sarah Hyland is a blast! She's gorgeous and hilarious - just like you would expect! She plays Baby's sister - and nails it!
Abigail Breslin (who happens to go by "Abbie" and whose birthday is the same as mine!) is the real deal. With absolutely ZERO dancing experience, she takes on the role of Baby -- and trains her heart out to perform the famous lift!
Dip, baby, dip! Colt Prattes is the new JOHNNY CASTLE! What a guy! Humble and talented. Nice combo, huh? He's a self-proclaimed Patrick Swayze "super-fan" and a pro-dancer! You have to check out his music video with Pink - "TRY." It's incredible!
It's really fun shooting stories like this -- because more often than not, I find myself hitting the dance floor! LOL!! Me and my "long arms" have a way to go -- but it was fun getting a lesson from "Johnny!" Thank you, Colt, for the DIRTY DANCING LESSON after our Nightline interview!
Back in the dance studio at 3rd Street Dance in Los Angeles, I meet up with the co-stars of Dirty Dancing for one more interview before their movie premieres on ABC, Wednesday, May 24! (It's a 3-hour movie event!)
