Crafting Cold Brew Coffee
Cold brew is the COLDEST and COOLEST trend of the summer! I confess -- I like my coffee HOT. HOWEVER...The COLD BREW is now a very close runner-up!!! It's different from iced coffee -- It's like cold coffee, minus the acidity. It's a smoother, sweeter finish -- and because of that, you can skip the milk and sugar!
All right. While the process doesn't get easier -- it does take TIME. Cold Brews take between 12 - 24 hours to steep in the fridge. The longer you let it sit, the smoother and less acidic it will taste!
Here's what you need...
- Coffee beans
- French Press or Blue Bottle
- Filtered water
Here's how you make it...
- French Press method...Fill grinder with whole beans and grind until beans are coarsely ground. Pour them into French press, and add room temperature, filtered water almost to the top. Then carefully press the coffee grounds to the bottom of the French press and refrigerate for 12 - 24 hours.
- For Blue Bottle method...Add 4 Tbs of finely ground coffee into the filter. Fill the bottle with about one liter of room temperature, filtered water. Pop the filter and the top onto the bottle, and allow the grounds to steep for about 12 hours.
